In One Evil For Another, the heroes wash ashore on Dragonmaw Isle, a remote island where survival would be difficult enough without war. Two Dragonkin clans, the Silverscales and the Darkscales, have lived side-by-side here in an uneasy peace for almost a thousand years. Now that peace is broken, and the island is torn apart by a conflict in which both sides claim their victory is necessary.

For the shipwrecked, there seems to be only one way out: form an alliance with one of the warring clans. But when both factions promise safe passage from the island in exchange for help, it quickly becomes clear that every choice has a price.

A 5E campaign full of dragons, war, and moral choices

This 5E campaign is designed for characters from level 6 to 7 and offers enough material for approximately 3 to 6+ play sessions. One Evil For Another combines survival, faction politics, draconic fantasy, and brutal war scenes on an island full of monsters, ruins, and rival Dragonkin.

Players are not simply asked to choose “the good side.” The Darkscales fight for their survival, while the Silverscales want to consolidate their dominance. Both sides want to use the party to definitively end the war, and both sides demand sacrifices that are hard to ignore.

Dragonmaw Isle as a dangerous sandbox

Dragonmaw Isle is a strong setting for Dungeon Masters who want to run a compact but intense adventure. The heroes are stranded, resources are limited, and the way home leads straight through a war between clans. This gives the campaign natural pressure: cooperation is necessary, but trust is dangerous.

In addition to diplomacy and choices between factions, the island offers plenty of room for battles against Dragonkin, draconic monsters, and other island threats. Ideal for groups that enjoy tactical encounters, rugged exploration, and decisions with immediate consequences.

New player option: Wyrmsoul Barbarian

In addition to the main adventure, One Evil For Another includes the new Wyrmsoul Barbarian subclass. This barbarian draws strength from an ancient dragon pact and unleashes the fierce energy of an inner dragon during their rage.

With spectral wings, draconic fury, and a strong battlefield presence, this subclass is perfect for players who want to play a frontliner with a distinct dragon theme. Even outside this campaign, the Wyrmsoul is a great option for characters with a connection to dragons, ancient bloodlines, or mystical pacts.

This 5E campaign contains a 120-page campaign PDF for characters from level 6–7. The adventure is designed for approximately 3 to 6+ play sessions, depending on playstyle, group size, and how much room the Dungeon Master allows for faction choices, exploration, and roleplay.
