In A Grim Siege, the city of Grimhelm is on the verge of complete collapse. The flames of rebellion have already torn through Baldur, the Inquisition hunts down enemies of the crown, and the destruction of the Draksborne embassy has unleashed a diplomatic disaster. What began as political tension is turning into a ruthless triangular war in which Baldur, Draksborne, and the warring factions within Grimhelm all pursue their own agendas.

A grimdark 5E campaign full of war and siege

This 5E campaign is designed for characters from level 7 to 8 and offers enough material for approximately 3 to 6+ play sessions. A Grim Siege forms the third part of Liberty or Death and places players in the middle of a besieged city where loyalty, propaganda, and survival constantly clash.

The atmosphere is heavy, military, and politically charged. Think of burning streets, collapsed defenses, distrustful allies, enemy knights, and a city where every decision can have consequences for citizens, soldiers, and rulers.

Three factions, one city, and no easy choices

In Grimhelm, no one is completely safe, and no one is entirely innocent. The heroes are confronted with a conflict in which Baldur and Draksborne fight for control, while the aftermath of rebellion and inquisition has weakened the city from within. This makes A Grim Siege highly suitable for groups who enjoy moral dilemmas, military missions, and roleplay under pressure.

For Dungeon Masters, this campaign offers ample room to build tension: negotiations between hostile parties, dangerous missions behind enemy lines, battles in ruined city districts, and encounters where brute force is not always the best solution.

New and revised player options

In addition to the main adventure, A Grim Siege includes the new Battlelord Fighter subclass. This fighter uses commands, courage, and battlefield control to strengthen allies and pressure enemies. A fitting choice for players who want to play a tactical commander rather than just a frontline fighter.

Additionally, the campaign features revised versions of the Hexhunter Fighter and Dark Inquisitor Ranger, giving players extra options that align well with the dark atmosphere of war, hunting, and fanatical law enforcement.

This 5E campaign includes a 124-page campaign PDF for characters from level 7–8. The adventure is designed for approximately 3 to 6+ play sessions, depending on playstyle, group size, and how much room the Dungeon Master gives to roleplay, tactical planning, and side quests.

Additionally, the campaign includes extra play material such as an A2 printable map of the kingdom of Baldur, 9 original battlemaps in A1-A2 format, 18 original stat blocks for level 7–8 gameplay, 21 magic items, and 3 premade character sheets with backstories.
